Football

Football, also known as soccer in some regions, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net, which is guarded by a goalkeeper. The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end. Players primarily use their feet to manipulate the ball, but they can also use other parts of their body except for the arms and hands, unless they are the goalkeeper.

The match consists of two halves, typically lasting 45 minutes each, with a break in between. The team that scores the most goals wins the game; if both teams have the same number of goals, the match may end in a draw or go into extra time and potentially a penalty shootout, depending on the rules of the competition. Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB), and is one of the most popular sports worldwide, with millions of fans and players.
